Rachel was born and raised in Timmins, ON and recently graduated from York University with a bilingual B.A (Hons) double-majoring in Environment & Health studies and Psychology. A love of research and public service led Rachel to begin studying in her current program, a bilingual Master’s in Public and International Affairs at Glendon College, York University. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys skiing and kayaking. |

Caitlin McAuliffe

Caitlin is from Sudbury Ontario and is an upcoming graduate from Laurentian University with a B.A., major in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and a minor in Indigenous Studies and Sociology. Along with her B.A. she is obtaining a Social Research Methods Certificate. She also holds two diplomas in Aboriginal Community and Social Development from Georgian College and Public Relations from Humber College. Caitlin’s areas of interest are within Indigenous Affairs, environmental sustainability, gender equity and economic development. She is dedicated to pursuing a career in social research, planning, policy and is interested in evidence informed practices and evaluation.

Dawson Mihichuk

Dawson is in his third year of university studying political science, transferring to Carleton University from Lakehead University. He plans to work in the field of politics or public administration, and is looking forward to the opportunities that will come from working with Northern Policy Institute. Dawson has lived in Northwestern Ontario his entire life and is excited to research the issues affecting the region.

Elektra Papadogiorgaki

Elektra was born in Greece but grew up in a small Nova Scotian town, and credits her interest in policy research to this transition. Elektra is currently completing a B.A. (Hons) in Politics from Acadia University, and is eager to be doing her co-op placement with NPI in Fort Frances. While expanding her Maritime perspective, she believes that there is great opportunity for policy analysis in rural communities. With a special interest in Environmental Sustainability Strategies and Indigenous Affairs in Canada, Elektra hopes to broaden her analytical skills and experience what makes Northern Ontario so unique.

Born on the west coast of British Columbia, Myfannwy came to Ontario to study in the Arts & Sciences program at McMaster University, with special focus on community engagement. She is very interested in public policy and health research, as well as exploring impacts of policy decisions on different communities. She is excited to being working at the Northern Policy Institute for the opportunity to learn more about and explore beautiful Northern Ontario.

Originally from North Bay, Rachel returned home after completing her Bachelors Degree in Anthropology from McMaster University. Rachel recently spent a year working as a Strategic Planning Intern at The Women’s Own Resource Centre in South River where she researched demographics and trends in Northern Ontario for a new strategic plan. She is currently pursuing a postgraduate certificate in Community Engagement from Ryerson University, and is very excited to join NPI as a summer Policy Analyst. Rachel has a passion for everything the North has to offer, from the people to the amazing landscape. Her hobbies include anything that gets her outside.
