This study aims to examine past and presents trends and characteristics in Timiskaming’s economy and to forecast and its future challenges and opportunities. The author offers several recommendations to address the significant economic transformation that Timiskaming has experienced over the past three decades. Some of the recommendations include bolstering population levels, improving rural and Aboriginal education, refocusing existing resources, stimulating entrepreneurship and diversifying the economy.
